Your donations to Prostasia will now be processed by its new parent organization, COSL. Find out more.

Hi subscriber,

We’re writing with so much gratitude and a little exciting news.

Thanks to your continued support, our mission is evolving and growing. The organization you’ve supported as Prostasia Foundation is now part of the Center for Online Safety and Liberty (COSL). This message is to inform you of some changes to how your membership will be billed.

You are probably well aware of the challenges that Prostasia has faced in recent years. Misguided controversy over a small part of its work – supporting research, mental health and social support services to help prevent perpetration of CSA – overshadowed the rest of its mission, making it difficult to make headway.

But with challenge comes opportunity: while we’re not backing away from the past, our community has grown, our vision has sharpened, and our commitment to building a safer, freer internet is stronger than ever. You made this evolution possible.

So while Prostasia continues to exist under the independent leadership of Kristin Spooner, Doctor of Social Work, AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST) and Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), your existing donation now goes through its new parent organization and fiscal sponsor, COSL. If you recently received a notice about a new Stripe subscription, it’s simply your existing Prostasia membership that we’ve migrated over to COSL’s payment platform.

In addition to supporting Prostasia’s longstanding prevention and harm reduction mission, COSL is now doing more than ever before. Because of you, we’ve already:

  • Launched the Harmful to Minors Archive, the first community-driven archive of platform takedown actions.
  • Created the Beyond the Filter podcast, a deep dive bringing professionals together to discuss censorship in the digital age.
  • Brought to life Liberato, the safer hosting service for communities who need it most.
  • Joined coalitions of civil rights organizations fighting to stop online ID checks and protect secure communications.

Your support isn’t just sustaining our work. It’s shaping its future. As we move forward as COSL, your donation will continue powering not only the independent work of Prostasia under Dr Spooner’s leadership, but also new independent COSL projects to:

  • Launch  new safer online communities, like the forthcoming Fan Refuge
  • Build safer tech tools for vulnerable groups
  • Fight back against harmful online regulations, together

We’re so excited for what’s ahead, and we’re honored to have you with us for this next chapter. Thank you for being part of our community, from the beginning and into the future.

While we’re getting COSL off the ground, it would really help us to have some more financial support. We encourage you to donate again to help us maintain a strong foundation not only for Prostasia’s sensitive work, but also for the many new projects that COSL has in the pipeline.
